Weight Loss Ethics
Welcome back to this great Weight Loss Tips blog where in this post I want to take a broader look at weight loss ethics in general. This includes the way the media rams weight loss down the throats of millions of people by making them believe they need to lose weight so they can look like their favourite wafer thin models or movie stars.
Ethics, in fact don’t even seem to come into it in an industry that is based on a great big lie.
That lie is that people should look like the skinny movie star image or worse, especially for girls, the painfully thin catwalk models that are glamourized as being the real shape of the female human form. This is of course absolute rubbish, but no one listens. When these anorexic looking models are shown on TV or in glossy magazines, girls in their millions see themselves as looking like them and want to be like them. Then they look in the mirror at what is a perfectly good figure and then go on a sometimes dangerous program of dieting to slim down to what is actually abnormal thinness.
So how ethical is it to promote extraordinarily thin women in glossy magazines and on television as the preferred norm? Not very, if you are a free thinker and can see past the media hype and lies.
What can be done about it? That depends upon your standpoint. You can get together and form action groups, but its already been done and is still being done with very little success. Sure one or two movie stars and models are actually promoting themselves with fuller figures, but they drops in a very large ocean.
People in general tend not to want to rock the boat and so would rather sit in front of their TV sets and shake their heads in solemn condemnation while at the same time doing absolutely nothing about it. This is the widespread norm and a very small percentage of the population of any country is willing to stand up and be counted. It’s simply too much trouble and no one will listen, or worse, brand yo as as nut case regardless of whether you’re right or wrong in any case.
So we all have to just put up with what we see all around us and accept it for what it is. The enlightened will of course not be taken in by the media pressure because we can clearly see right through their crap. However, such is the overwhelming majority of the not-so-enlightened who grasp at any straws that the weight loss industry toss them via the media, that ethics are right out of the window and its business as usual for the weight loss program makers, diet creators and drugs industry.
